Living the Life in Mexico Travel Canada: Kelowna Hotels - Calgary Hotels - Collingwood Hotels - St. Catharines Hotels
So, now that you've decided to make the move to the Riviera Nayarit, you're going to find that it's very easy to fit in. If you've ever visited this area, or even if you haven't, you're probably already familiar with its diverse culture, traditions, the art and outdoor lifestyle.
While many of us feel comfortable visiting Mexico on vacation, moving and living there can present another set of challenges. Some of the practicalities of being a resident in a new country like setting up your phone and internet can feel overwhelming at first especially if you're not familiar with language and how things are done down here.

We have created with the help of all our residence a detail list of everything you need to setup your new home. The services are all ready setup and provided by the developer. Having your phone and internet services is a minor task that takes a few hours at the local Telmax office 5 minutes from the development. The internet access is extremely fast and very reliable, in the 1 1/2 I have lived at the Alamar I have seen it go down only once for a few hours. You will be impressed with both download and upload speeds of your DSL internet connection.
There are satellite and cable options for your television. We run Star Choice satellite to keep in touch with our Canadian news, our favorite shows and of course hockey. You will have the best list of suppliers you can imagine covering your appliances, furniture, custom carpenters, painters and everything else you could possible need.

One of the best parts of living in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is the marina and the fish market. I visit the fish market once a week to purchase some fresh like the Tuna, Marlin, Red Snapper, Pargo, Sea Bass, Dora and/or prawns. This week I picked up 2 kilos of Mahi Mahi and 12 monster prawns for approximately $15 Canadian. What a great deal! They also have lobster, crab and occasional scalps. Just let them know if you want it thick for the barbecue or fillet.
We have large groceries stores close to us that carries everything that you’re familiar with at home. The fruits and vegetables are very fresh and locally grown. We have a Walmart store that is 10 minutes from the development and the shopping in Puerto Vallarta is endless with furniture stores, large malls, office depot, home depot and specialty shops.
What I have noticed is an overall lower cost of living that what we had in Canada. We go grocery shopping and come out with twice as much at half the price at home. My car insurance is also half the price compared to my Canadian policy but I like the most is my property taxes. In Peachland BC my property taxes were $3,200 per year and here in the Riviera Nayarit we pay only $245 per year. Nice!

We find the local Mexican people, in general, are gentle, kind, soft spoken, always ready to help, and excruciatingly polite. They greet everyone with a hug or, for women, a kiss on the cheek. You rarely see children misbehaving or hear them crying. Even the dogs are friendly.
